(KNSI) – March will end like a lion as central Minnesota will be under a Winter Storm Warning on the last day of the month.
The warning is in effect from 1:00 p.m. Friday to 7:00 a.m. Saturday for Benton, Sherburne, and Stearns County. Officials say the St. Cloud area could get three to five inches of snow and blowing snow. Expect ice accumulations as well. Winds will gust as high as 45 mph.
Counties further to the south, in McLeod, Meeker, and Wright counties, will see snow later in the day but more of it. The snow could fall at an inch an hour, leaving more than six inches behind.
Plan on slippery road conditions. Gusty winds could also bring down tree branches. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
Slow down and use extra caution while traveling.
