(KNSI) – Three Stearns County farmsteads will be honored for 100 years of family farming at this year’s Minnesota State Fair.

Making the list was Wicker Farms near Kimball which was established in 1916. The Hemmesch Farm near Richmond started in 1920, and The Gohman Farm near St. Cloud is the oldest after being established in 1856.

Qualifying farms must be in continuous family ownership for at least 100 years and are 50 acres or more. Century Farm families receive a commemorative sign and a certificate signed by Minnesota State Fair, the Minnesota Farm Bureau presidents and Governor Tim Walz.

In all, 89 family farms will be honored this year. Since the program began in 1976, more than 11,000 Minnesota farms have been recognized as Century Farms.

The 2023 Minnesota State Fair will run from August 24th through Labor Day, September 4th.
