(KNSI) – The list of finalists to head the Waite Park Police Department will be released on Monday.
Administrator Shaunna Johnson says there are four people in contention for police chief at the city. Interviews are scheduled for Thursday, April 6th. The public is invited to a meet and greet event from 4:00 to 5:00 that evening at city hall to interact with each finalist and have a chance to weigh in.
The City Council has not set a firm timeline for what will follow Thursday’s events and when a selection will be made. Current chief Dave Bentrud is set to retire in May. He was hired by the city in 2008 after serving on the Saint Cloud Police Department in several roles dating back to 1992.
Once a person is chosen, a background check and psychological profile are required. It usually takes a couple of months for everything to be completed.
