(KNSI) – St. Cloud is one of nine communities to get funding for rail improvements.
Northern Lines Railroad will get $381,000 to modernize and upgrade tracks and switches and rebuild a concrete-grade crossing in St. Cloud.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation Office of Traffic Safety is donating the money to support economic development. The grants come from the Minnesota Rail Service Improvement program. The 2021 special legislative session approved the money. In all, $6.95 million has been allocated.
Other communities getting funding are Breckinridge, Dundas, Delavan, Lansing, Morton, New Brighton, Ortonville and Stewart.
