Big Lake Traffic Stop Turns Into Drug Bust

(KNSI) – A traffic stop in Big Lake turned into an arrest for the possession and sale of drugs early Tuesday.

In a post on the police department’s Facebook page, it says an officer began a traffic stop at midnight for a variety of factors. The driver gave the officer a fake name. The officer learned the 53-year-old man was wanted on felony warrants from several nearby counties. He was taken into custody and a search of the man’s vehicle found about three ounces of methamphetamine.

He has since been taken to the Sherburne County Jail and is charged with five counts, including several felonies. The charges include 1st degree sale and possession of methamphetamine, giving a police officer a false name, driving on a suspended license, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
