(KNSI) — An investigation is underway after a 22-year-old woman was ejected from her vehicle following a violent crash Monday night.

According to the Sauk Rapids Police Department, just after 8:00 p.m., they were notified by the St. Cloud Police Department that a suspect involved in a possible Domestic Abuse No Contact Order violation had left the scene of the violation and was last seen headed toward Sauk Rapids in a red Chevy Cavalier. Sauk Rapids officers were in the area of South Benton Drive and Highway 10 when they observed a vehicle matching that description heading northbound on Benton Drive from the Highway 10 area. An officer in a fully marked squad car confirmed it was the vehicle involved in the St. Cloud incident, but before they could activate their emergency lights and sirens, the driver accelerated at a high rate of speed and disappeared from view.

The press release says officers did not pursue the driver, identified as Tatyana Marie Depratto, and were not in pursuit of her at any time as she headed north on Benton Drive. The officer continued north on Benton Drive without lights or sirens and found the crashed car near 1st Street South and Depratto lying in the southbound lane of Benton Drive.

She was rushed to CentraCare – St. Cloud Hospital for treatment. Investigators say “it was learned that the female driver was suspected of having consumed a large amount alcoholic beverages.” A blood sample was taken and will determine her blood alcohol content.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol’s preliminary crash report, it appears Depratto was driving at a high rate of speed and lost control of the car, went off the road and hit a center median barrier.

The crash was so violent, photos showed the engine completely ripped out of the vehicle. Debris also littered the roadway, including at least one tire found lying some feet away.

The Sauk Rapids Police Department was assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol, St. Cloud Police Department, Sartell Police Department, Benton County Sheriff s Office, Mayo Ambulance, Sauk Rapids Fire Department, Sauk Rapids Public Works and Andy’s Towing.

The investigation is ongoing.
