(KNSI) — Thee American band Grand Funk Railroad will pull into the Ledge Amphitheater in Waite Park on August 12th with special guest Jefferson Starship.
Grand Funk Railroad, a play on the name of the Grand Trunk Railroad in their native Michigan, has been chugging along since 1968, hitting the top of the charts with their probably most well known song, “We’re an American Band” in 1973. They’re also known for “Some Kind of Wonderful,” “The Loco-Motion,” “I’m Your Captain (Closer to Home),” and the cover of the Animals song “Inside Looking Out.”
Jefferson Starship, born out of the former members of Jefferson Airplane in 1974, saw continued success with seven gold and three platinum albums. Known for the hit singles “Jane,” “Find Your Way Back,” and “Miracles,” the group has continued to tour since the deaths of members Paul Kantner in 2016 and Marty Balin in 2018.
A venue presale for tickets starts Thursday, March 30th, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. through Ticketmaster with the presale code LEDGEROCK. The general public onsale starts Friday, March 31st at 10:00 a.m. through Ticketmaster and at the Ledge Winter Box Office inside the city’s Public Works building.

Also announced this week for the Ledge are Billy Currington and Eli Young Band coming in September. Dwight Yoakam, Doobie Brothers, Barenaked Ladies, and Gary Allan are making stops at the Ledge, too.
