(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Transportation is holding an open house to help kick off a major reconstruction project at Highway 10 and 23 in St. Cloud.

The event is Monday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the lower level of the MnDOT offices in St. Cloud. The project will reconstruct road surface, bridges, utilities, drainage structures, and pedestrian and motorist accesses; and construct a new Fourth St. SE bridge over Highway 10.

The open house will provide information on upcoming impacts on traffic and how to get construction updates.

Construction officials say they know that the current road surface on Highway 10 between Benton Drive and 15th Avenue Southeast is extremely rough. Potholes have formed, and the asphalt has crumbled due to reoccurring freeze/thaw cycles. Crews have been out patching, but unfortunately, officials say they are seeing limited success in making repairs due to the weather.

In the meantime, MnDOT asks that people drive slowly with caution or seek alternate routes. Through traffic may want to use Highway 15, Inerstate-94 to Clearwater and Highway 24 back to Highway 10 in Clear Lake.

The city is hosting a community Transportation Summit on Thursday, April 6th, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at city hall. Stop in to get information on multiple 2023 construction projects in the St. Cloud.
