(KNSI) – A duel between NCAA Division II commits goes Albany’s way in the Class AA State Semifinal round. The Huskies advance to Saturday’s state title game, 79-64.

Albany’s Tysen Gerads matched Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton’s Owen Leach bucket for bucket. Gerads finished with a game-high 31 points along with six assists. Leach had 30 points and 13 rebounds. It was an entertaining showdown for the duration of the game.

Gerads had more support, though. Three other players reached double figures, including forward Sam Hondl, point guard Zeke Austin, and center Ethan Borgerding. Austin chipped in with eight boards to come close to a double-double. Borgerding had nine rebounds to get even closer to the mark. Hondl contributed 11 assists and nine rebounds, one board from a triple-double. Albany doubled DGF in assists, 24-12, in the contest.

Albany had a slow shooting start in Tuesday’s quarterfinal round, but that wasn’t the case Friday night at the Target Center. The Huskies filled the hoop at a 54% clip in the first half and that improved to 56.4% for the full game.

#2 Albany tips at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the Class AA title matchup against #5 Minnehaha Academy.
