(KNSI) – St. Cloud State University announces the date for the 50th annual Lemonade Concert and Art Fair.
Scheduled for June 22nd, Lemonade is the kickoff for the Granite City Days celebration. It has been held in June since 1999. From 1974 to 1998, the event took place in early July or early August. This year’s festivities will include a special anniversary performance by the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra. The concert is scheduled for 7:30 inside Ritsche Auditorium.
Director of Civic Engagement & Assessment Christa Hayes says you can expect original music to be part of the performance. “We are very excited to announce that a commissioned piece titled “On Oak Crowned Banks,” composed by Michael Halstenson, commissioned by the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra and funded by a generous donor, will be premiered that evening.”
New this year is the Husky Express, which is geared toward kids and teaches “the science of art.” There will be pendulum creations, tornado art, and painting with hailstones, along with several other activities. Over 150 vendors are expected, plus food and staples like the Little Lemons Art Park. The art fair runs from 11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Hayes says, “We are hoping in years to come to offer the same traditional experience for fair attendees, while also providing new signature attractions as well.”
