(KNSI) — It was win or go home at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center Sunday night in St. Cloud, as the St. Cloud State University Huskies men’s hockey team sent the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs packing as the Huskies ended the Bulldogs’ season with a 3-1 victory.

Cooper Wylie and Adam Ingram scored the first two goals of the night. Grant Cruikshank put it away for the Huskies after a shot from Grant Ahcan in the second, netting Cruikshank his 21st goal of the season, which ranks sixth in the NCAA. Sophomore forward Mason Salquist is credited with two assists on the night.

Friday night, the Huskies came out swinging as sophomore defenseman Josh Luedtke scored just 3:12 into the first, putting the team up 1-0. Senior forward Micah Miller scored the next two, with Senior defenseman Ondrej Trejbal getting the assist on Miller’s second goal. The third was an empty netter as UMD had pulled their goalie to get an extra man on the ice, but the goalie barely made it to the bench before Miller sent one sailing in. The 3-1 victory put the Huskies up 1-0 in the best of three series.

Saturday night, Adrian Spellacy and Kyler Kupka landed assists as Miller found the back of the net again for the Huskies’ only goal in the first period. After that, it was all UMD as they won 5-1, tying up the series at one apiece.

St. Cloud State will face North Dakota in the NCHC Frozen Faceoff semifinals on Friday, March 17th, at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Puck drop time will be announced today.
