(KNSI) — The St. Cloud Area Family YMCA is hosting the 12th annual Bernick’s Family Fitness Series, and the first race in 2023 is Saturday, March 11th.

The Pot O’ Gold 5K is presented by Cetera Investment Services. Race Coordinator Evin Haukos tells KNSI News the partnership helps make the event affordable for everyone. “It allows us to keep our prices to only five dollars a person, which includes the run and a shirt, the whole nine [yards].”

The event has three options for participants. There’s the five-kilometer run, of course. You can try your hand at a two-mile walk as well, and the kids can do the El-Jay Plumbing “Little Leprechauns” 1K.

Between the different race lengths and the affordable prices, the Pot O’ Gold 5K helps the Bernick’s Family Fitness Series live up to its name, according to Haukos. “It’s really taken off for that reason, that it’s really kicked out the problems of the cost barrier. So now, families can come out and spend 20 bucks, get the shirts, have the race, enjoy themselves, and commit to family fitness. Which is definitely the goal and it has been working for a long time.”

The event starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Riverview Intermediate School in Sartell.

A link to sign up or to volunteer at the race is here. Haukos says registering to help at the event sets you up for a chance at a $250 Scheels gift card. They are another sponsor of the series, along with Leighton Broadcasting.
