(KNSI) – Staff at the St. Cloud Community Outpost will be accepting candy and toys two days a week through mid-April. Gifts will be taken in from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the COP House at 600 13th Street South.
The donated items will then be handed out during Eid al-Fitr, which runs from the evening of Friday, April 21st, until sundown the next day. The SCPD’s Community Engagement-Community Response Team and the Professional Somali Women’s Group are organizing the drive.
Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan. The month-long holy period requires fasting during daylight hours in honor of the Koran, Islam’s holy book.
The toys and candy will be given out in bags and distributed at several locations during events planned by various organizations. Other items being accepted are juice boxes and bottled water.
