(KNSI) – The Minnesota House passed nearly $1.9 billion in infrastructure bills on Monday, including a provision for the Great River Children’s Museum.

The Senate will now begin crafting its own version. Representative Dan Wolgamott says his colleagues in the other chamber will have a lot to consider.

“I think we’ve had about $4 billion worth of requests come in in the past couple of years and, obviously, you have to be willing to say no to things.”

Wolgamott says he expects the museum provision will be approved by the Senate as well.

“The good news is we have a very good champion in the Senate. Aric Putnam is the Senate author for the Children’s Museum legislation and I’m also really proud that Bernie Perryman, who is the Republican representative who represents the other part of St Cloud, was the co-author on this bill [in the House].”

Museum Executive Director Cassie Miles also acknowledged the bipartisan support for her organization. She tells KNSI, “Now we need the Senate to vote this bill forward so we can begin construction and put our focus toward becoming a much needed resource for the children and families of Central Minnesota.”

The museum will be located in the Liberty Bank Building on 7th Avenue South in St. Cloud.
