(KNSI) – The first two Stearns County Skywarn training sessions are this week, including Wednesday afternoon in Sartell.

Skywarn is a volunteer storm spotter program run by the National Weather Service. It is open to the public, and you learn about the basics of thunderstorm development, how to identify severe weather, how to report what you are seeing to help officials notify the public and general safety tips. The training is free.

A list of locations and times is below.

– March 7th (6:30-8:30 p.m.) at the Belgrade Fire Department, 417 Washburn Avenue.
– March 8th (2:00-4:00 p.m.) at the Sartell Public Safety Facility, 501 Pinecone Road.
– March 14th (6:00-8:00 p.m.) at the Albany Fire Hall, 231 4th Street.
– March 21st (7:00-9:00 p.m.) at the Paynesville Fire Department, 221 Washburn Avenue.
