(KNSI) — The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Sunday night and Monday across central Minnesota.
The advisory is in place from 6:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. for two to four inches of snow.
The snow will start to fall Sunday afternoon, with the bulk of the accumulation expected overnight into Monday morning, with some lighter accumulations into the remainder of the morning hours. Drivers could face a wet sloppy commute due to slushy snow, and some gusty winds may also accompany the system. After the initial burst of heavier snow, a wintry mix of rain and snow is possible but at much lighter rates as surface temperatures warm above freezing.
The snow that falls will be the wet heavy kind, so snow totals could be on the lower end.
Tuesday’s commute may also be affected as refreeze is possible overnight Monday as temperatures fall below freezing with wet roads.
