(KNSI) — The Minnesota State Patrol is asking drivers to take it easy Wednesday morning as snowfall and windy conditions have made for slick roads.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, roads were mostly covered with snow, and there were several crashes, spinouts and jackknifed semis reported, especially in central and west central Minnesota. Troopers say buckle up, put the phone down, make sure the headlights are on and allow for plenty of stopping distance.

Temps will hover around the freezing mark Wednesday. The area is under a winter weather advisory until 3:00 p.m.
