(KNSI) – A traveling exhibit celebrating water will head to Becker in the coming months.
It is open to the public from March 2nd through April 24th, which includes Earth Day, World Water Day, and the Youth Water Festival. We Are Water MN highlights the importance of the Mississippi River watershed. The exhibit will be displayed at the Sherburne History Center and available during normal business hours. The center is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 to 4:00.
The program is sponsored by the Minnesota Humanities Center, which has teamed up with the Mississippi River-St. Cloud Watershed Collaborative and the Sherburne County Soil and Water Conservation District. The hope is the display will improve the community’s knowledge of issues surrounding our lakes, rivers, and streams and nurture our urge to protect them.
The watershed stretches from northeastern Meeker County, following the Clearwater River. To the north, it runs along the Elk River to the Benton County-Morrison County divide. It then tracks the Mississippi River southeast into the Twin Cities area.
