(KNSI) – The St. Cloud Police Department is leasing a hangar and part of a nearby office building at the airport, which will be converted into classrooms and storage space for the force.
The agreement is cancellable at any time. The city expects to pay just under $8,330 for the first year. The rate then bumps up by three percent per year for the full 15-year term. The city will make the annual payment before January 5th to satisfy the lease and, if it is still going in 2038, the agreement can be renewed for another five years.
The lease would consist of a hangar and office building space that would be used by the police department for training, including the K9 and special operations divisions. The SCPD also wants to store vehicles and equipment at the site. It totals 2,400 square feet of hangar space, 4,000 square feet of ramp space, 1,602 square feet of parking near the hangar, and another 1,596 square feet of office space.
The item is part of the consent agenda for Monday’s St. Cloud City Council meeting.
