(KNSI) — A 25-year-old Melrose man is facing three felony counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct after police say he got a 15-year-old girl pregnant.
According to the criminal complaint filed in Stearns County District Court, police spoke with the girl, who said she and her mother rent a room from Wilber Berduo-Perez, and they all live in the same house. For the last five or six months, she said the two had been in a sexual relationship. That relationship, which began when she was 14, came to light after she took a home pregnancy test, and it came back positive. She says Berduo-Perez is the father of her baby.
Investigators spoke with him, and he allegedly admitted in a sworn statement he knew what he was doing was illegal but that the two of them were in love.
He made his first court appearance Thursday morning.
