(KNSI) – Snowplows will be out in force over the next few days, and drivers need to give them space to work. Officials say driving too close to plows can be extremely dangerous.
The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office says never crowd the plow while on the roads. Officials say crashes are usually caused by drivers following too closely behind a plow, being distracted, or driving too fast for the conditions.
Officials say to be patient behind the wheel and remember snowplows are working to improve road conditions for your trip. Stay at least ten car lengths behind the plow, far from the snow cloud. Stay alert because snowplows turn or exit frequently and often with little warning.
Many kids are out of school because of the winter storm, and adults need to keep them away from the road when plows go by. Never let kids tunnel or build a fort in the snowbanks or along the side of the road.
