(KNSI) – The executive director of Visit Greater St. Cloud has been asked to serve on Minnesota’s tourism board.
Governor Tim Walz has asked Rachel Thompson to be part of the Explore Minnesota Tourism Council. She will be the Central Tourism Marketing Region Representative. She begins her term on Tuesday, and it goes until January 2027. In March of 2022, Thompson was one of nine people in the nation named as an emerging tourism star.
The Explore Minnesota Tourism Council promotes activities that support, maintain, and expand the state’s domestic and international travel market to generate increased tax revenue and employment.
Visit Greater St. Cloud is a department under the umbrella of the St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce.
Thompson is replacing Jean Bowman, who is the executive director of the Fergus Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau. Former Governor Mark Dayton appointed Bowman.
