(KNSI) – The United Way of Central Minnesota says 50 kids around the St. Cloud area have a cozy place to sleep thanks to Callan Furniture.
The furniture store donated 50 mattresses and box springs on Valentine’s Day. “Sometimes when we are working with families, we see that they have three or four children sharing one bed, or sometimes they don’t have beds at all,” according to United Way Vice President of Development and Engagement Jessica Houle.
The beds were stored and loaded up at the Community Outpost with help from volunteers from Blue Stem in St. Cloud. Volunteers helped deliver the beds to St. Cloud’s Southside neighborhood families.
Houle says it melts her heart to see the beds delivered to the kids. “They get to sleep on a bed for maybe the first time. We’re just really super excited about this partnership and all the things that they’ve [Callan’s] been able to do for our children here in our community.”
