(KNSI) — The Minnesota State Fair has announced the second show for the 2023 grandstand concert series.

The Chicks, previously known as Dixie Chicks, with special guest Wild Rivers, are playing at 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 25th. Tickets are all reserved seating at $77, $97, $107, and $197 and go on sale Friday, February 17th, at 10:00 a.m. Get yours by clicking here.

Hailing from Dallas, Texas, The Chicks burst onto the scene in 1998 with their multi-platinum, chart-topping album Wide Open Spaces, which produced five hit singles. Fly followed that up in 1999, selling several million copies again and reaching the top of the charts. Their sixth studio album, Home, released in 2002, featured a cover of the song “Landslide,” originally done by Fleetwood Mac. In 2007, they released Taking the Long Way featuring “Not Ready to Make Nice” and “I Hope,” released as a charity single to help relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Taking the Long Way was their last album under the Dixie Chicks moniker. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and again sold several million copies, even after backlash received saying they did not support the allied invasion of Iraq and were ashamed President George W. Bush was from Texas. In March 2020, after nearly 14 years, the group released its fifth studio album, Gaslighter.

Lead singer Natalie Maines and sisters Emily Strayer and Martie McGuire have amassed 13 Grammy Awards and earned multiple Country Music Association, Academy of Country Music, American Music and Billboard Music awards.

The Chicks are embarking on a 37-date mega-tour in June in Norway, with stops in the U.K. and Europe before returning to North America.

Duran Duran was announced as the first show for the Great Minnesota Get Together. They will be playing the grandstand August 31st.
