(KNSI) — An investigation is underway after inmates in the same cell block at the Morrison County Jail overdosed over the weekend.

Authorities say on Saturday night, just before 7:00, staff were told that an inmate had passed out and become unresponsive. Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen says the guards called in deputies from his office, the Little Falls Police Department, Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service EMTs, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Department, and a nurse from St. Gabriel’s Hospital began life saving efforts, including administering Narcan to the inmate.

A short time later, five other inmates began showing symptoms of a potential overdose and were given Narcan. All six were taken to St. Gabriel’s Hospital for treatment. They have since been released and are back at the Morrison County Jail.

Sheriff Larsen says he is proud of the teamwork shown to save the lives of the six inmates affected.
