(KNSI) — A GoFundMe has been launched for a Zimmerman woman who was assaulted and dragged after she was in a crash last month.

According to the page, Billi Jo Kruse was driving to work when she was rear-ended by another driver, shattering the back windshield and bending the car’s frame. When Kruse pulled over, the driver of the truck, identified by police as Edward Lafore, came up to her, shivering, so she offered to have him wait for the police in her car. Once inside, he allegedly ended her call to 911 and then repeatedly hit her in the face. Lafore then unhooked her seatbelt, opened her door and pushed her out of the car. Kruse’s arm was entangled in the seatbelt, and she could not free herself before the suspect drove off, dragging Kruse. She disconnected herself from the car, and a passing motorist stopped to help her.

Kruse suffered a concussion and will need surgery to repair her teeth.

In Lafore’s truck, police say they found a loaded handgun. He has been charged with several felonies, including assault and aggravated robbery.
