(KNSI) – Some residents of a Stearns County town are asking their mayor to step down.

City of Holdingford

The Holdingford City Council agenda for Monday’s meeting list a request for the resignation of Mayor Sue Marstein. The agenda doesn’t list a reason for asking for her to quit.

Minutes from the city’s January 9th meeting show the mayor was unhappy with some decisions made by the municipal liquor store’s management, including closing during the Minnesota Vikings’ game on Christmas Eve and other issues with how the place is run.

Marstein ran unopposed for mayor in November and had 288 or 95% of the vote. There were 14 write-in votes for other candidates.

KNSI News has reached out to the mayor and council members for comment. The meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Monday at city hall.

Holdingford has a population of around 750 people and is located about 45 minutes northwest of St. Cloud.
