(KNSI) – St. Cloud saw eight downtown businesses get Main Street Revitalization Program grants in the first round of applications. The Economic Development Authority updated the status of each project at Tuesday’s meeting.

The business corridor includes areas on both sides of the Mississippi River. East St. Germain Street is a bit further along. It was announced in January that Iron Street Distillery on the first level of the former International Harvester Building already received funds from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development and the Initiative Foundation. Harvester Square Event Space, a wedding and corporate gathering space upstairs, has also gotten a check.

MoXie Ladies, a business specializing in interior design for vintage homes, is the new tenant of the Mackeral Building at 413/415 East St. Germain Street. It expects to have funds disbursed later this month.

Shifting over to the heart of St. Cloud’s downtown, the Blue Goose Speakeasy, Oberg Roofing, and Arcasearch all expect money by the end of February. The speakeasy is located inside the Pioneer Place on Fifth. Oberg Roofing is planning renovations of the Aria Communications Building at 717 West St. Germain. Across the street, Arcasearch is moving into the Federal Building. It has already begun pulling permits to modify the former post office and turn it into the headquarters for an IT company.

The Great River Children’s Museum received its grant in January. The last project involves work at Jules Bistro. No progress has been made on the expansion there. An agreement must be in place by November.

The second application window for the Main Street Revitalization Program ends on March 9th.
