(KNSI) — A local lawmaker took home the 2023 Bipartisan Bag-Off title and in the process, raised money to help feed hungry families.
Republican House Minority Leader Lisa Demuth of Cold Spring beat out four other competitors in the sixth annual competition held inside the capitol rotunda in St. Paul. She wins the honor of picking a food shelf in her district to receive $1,000.
Demuth was joined by Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson, House Assistant Majority Leader Sydney Jordan, Senator Matt Klein, and Minnesota Department of Agriculture Commissioner Thom Peterson. Each contestant received a $500 donation to a food shelf of their choice in their district. Second Harvest Heartland also got a check for $2,500.
Contestants were judged by a panel based on attitude, appearance, weight distribution, proper bagging technique, style and speed.
