(KNSI) – Whitney Park in St. Cloud will host the first-ever Celebrate MN event this summer.

Scheduled for August 11th and 12th, it is being organized by evangelical pastor and missionary Mike Silva and will bring together some of St. Cloud’s most influential organizations.

“We are coming at the invitation of some business and corporate leaders. And then it turned into civic leaders, faith-based organizations, churches…really, it’s a cross-section of the entire community, which is wonderful. That’s our heart, is to bring people together.”

Silva says the festival will benefit several causes locally, including homeless and women’s shelters.

Silva is particularly proud of the kidsfest area and the emphasis on the family at the event.

“Celebrate MN gives us a chance to be together. Have a great time, good food, great news, great music. You can’t beat that.”

Silva has four daughters. At one time, three of them were teenagers simultaneously. He said there were instances where they felt like strangers because at that age they are constantly on the go with friends.

Celebrate Minnesota will have several musical acts, BMX, and action sports demonstrations like skateboarding, a car show, and more. Additional information is here.
