(KNSI) – A pimp has been sentenced for selling a woman for sex in the Twin Cities.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Human Trafficking Investigators Task Force says Larry Eddie Konah Jr. was sentenced Thursday in Ramsey County District Court to just under four years in prison.
Investigators say the break in the case came thanks in part to the victim’s brave work to escape and the quick actions of a few hotel workers. Konah trafficked his victim out of several Twin Cities area hotels for four months, using sexual assaults and beatings to force her to comply.
On July 14th, the victim passed a note to the hotel’s front desk staff without Konah’s knowledge. The staff recognized the woman needed help and responded quickly. Law enforcement took Konah into custody a short time later.
The Minnesota Human Trafficking Investigators Task Force provides statewide law enforcement response for the National Human Trafficking Hotline. Victims can get help by calling the Hotline at 888-373-7888 or sending the text HELP to 233733.
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger of being trafficked, call 911. To report a suspected trafficking situation, call the BCA at 877-996-6222 or email bca.tips@state.mn.us.
