(KNSI) – A Moorhead man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting a man multiple times near Monticello.

Police were called around 8:30 on Monday night to a compost site near Montissippi Park, where they found a man in an SUV suffering from wounds to his chest and neck. Three witnesses in the vehicle with the victim spoke with police, identifying the alleged shooter as Dillion Lawrence Tilbury.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim and the 18-year-old suspect got into a fight outside the SUV and at some point, Tilbury pulled out a gun and shot the victim.

Witnesses say Tilbury ran from the scene, and police tracked him to a garage. He was found hiding in the trunk of a car and arrested.

Investigators searched the garage and found a 9mm pistol in the rafters. They also found a gun magazine in the bottom of a gas can hidden in the backyard.

Tilbury made his first court appearance on Thursday and has been charged with second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault. Bail was set at $450,000 with conditions or $750,000 without conditions. Tilbury’s will next court appearance is set for January 31st.
