(KNSI) – Metro Bus will have two public meetings next month about a potential new station for the western part of its service area.
Before finalizing a location, the agency must do an equity analysis under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. Two public hearings will solicit feedback from community members to determine if any of the potential sites would cause an undue harm to minority populations. The meetings are scheduled on Thursday, February 16th, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and from 5:00 to 7:00, both at the Waite Park City Hall located at 19 13th Avenue North.
Currently, there are routes that run to the Stearns County Service Center, past Quarry Park to the Bel Clare Estates, and along Old Highway 52 in Waite Park.
The Federal Transit Authority looks at disparate impact and also disproportionate burden, which examines how a change affects low-income population segments with its consequences for the middle class and wealthy.
