(KNSI) — A 35-year-old St. Cloud man is charged with first-degree felony arson after allegedly trying to set fire to his apartment.

According to the criminal complaint, just after 2:00 a.m. Thursday, firefighters were called to an alarm at an apartment complex on the 4000 block of 12th Street North. Firefighters located the affected unit being rented by Reiss Atterbury and put the fire out, which was contained in the kitchen area. The oven door was open, and inside and in front of the oven, there was a large amount of burned debris, including a partially melted gas can and a roll of toilet paper. The oven knob was set between 450 and 500 degrees. They also found three separate areas of fire in the living room area, along with disconnected smoke detectors. Surveillance footage shows heavy smoke from the apartment and Atterbury standing in the doorway, appearing unconcerned about the smoke or the possibility of a fire.

The criminal complaint also says Atterbury told police he is bipolar and suffers from delusions.

He is being held without bail.
