(KNSI) – The Friends of the Paynesville Airport want you to save the date for their annual airshow.
Scheduled for Saturday, August 26th, organization president Randy Schaefer says he is hoping they can build off of 2022’s successes. Last year’s show had 3,000 people attend. Schaefer says that will allow them to have more performers. They’ve already secured several acts.
“We actually just attended the International Air Show convention in Las Vegas in December and are in the process of finalizing the actual performers for the upcoming airshow. So, we anticipate we’ll have five or six, maybe even a couple more.”
Schaefer says the acts are influenced by the size of the facility.
“So in the case of our airport here in Paynesville, we’ve got a 3,300-foot runway and then the airspace around it. So, they’ll tailor it somewhat to fit within the airspace area that they have to work with here.”
Additionally, the United States military will have simulators on hand to interact with. There will be concessions and musical entertainment as well.
Schaefer says the Friends of Paynesville Airport have prioritized community involvement. Expect to see them at Town and Country Days in the summer and they’ve recently started fall color rides. It is still a small group, though, and volunteers for the air show will be needed.
