(KNSI) – St. Cloud’s newest council members are officially on the job after Monday night’s swearing-in ceremony.
Jake Anderson and Dr. Karen Ann Larson were elected to the council in November. Larson has a doctorate in philosophy and says as she was taking the oath, she was thinking about those who elected her and the journey it took. “It was fun. I mean, it took a long time to get here and a lot of effort, which is as it should be. You think about your constituents.”
Larson told KNSI some things she would like to accomplish, including continuing with the revitalization efforts of the city’s east side. “The east side, in general, has a number of issues. We need, as a city, to provide shelter for homeless folks. We also need, as a city, to manage our homeless shelter so that they fit in to the rest of the community.”
She says everybody’s interests have to be served by the city.
They took the oath with returning council members Mike Conway and Dave Masters. Conway nominated current Council President Jeff Goerger to serve another term as president. He was reelected and nominated Conway for council vice president. Conway accepted and was elected to the post.
