(KNSI) — St. Cloud Area School District 742 is hosting informational nights for its upcoming dual language immersion programs in Chinese, Somali and Spanish.
The informational nights are open to all families throughout the area – including open enrollment – with incoming kindergarteners for the 2023/2024 school year.
The session for Chinese immersion is at Madison Elementary School on January 12th at 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. There are four Somali information sessions. Two are at Talahi for the Lincoln and Talahi attendance areas on January 17th at 4:00 and 4:45 p.m., and another is at Discovery for the Oak Hill and Discovery attendance areas on January 18th at 4:00 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. The Spanish immersion informational nights are on January 19th at Westwood for the Northside attendance areas at 5:00 p.m. and on January 23rd at 5:00 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. at Clearview for the Southside attendance areas.
For questions, contact Sue Linn-Hasbrouck, immersion program coordinator, at 320-370-6530 or via email by clicking here.
The programs were announced back in November. The district says with dual immersion, students learn for half the day in the target language and half the day in English. Full immersion students learn the entire instructional day in a second language. English only sections will continue to be offered at all schools.
