(KNSI) — Six people were arrested after a police chase Friday that started at the funeral of Johntae Hudson.
Nineteen-year-old Hudson was shot and killed at the Mall of America on December 23rd.
According to police, officers spotted one man with a gun and another wanted for a different non-fatal shooting on December 14th. They watched them leave the funeral in an SUV and pull into a gas station parking lot. Police tried to conduct a traffic stop, but one of the men allegedly jumped out of the vehicle and took off running. He was captured a short distance away. The driver sped off, and the abandoned SUV was spotted near the University of Minnesota. Four 19-year-olds and an 18-year-old were found and taken into custody. A K9 officer discovered a bag allegedly containing a .9mm handgun and clothing the 18-year-old was wearing inside. One of the others had a gun on him and another in a backpack. The shooting suspect was not found.
Four people have been arrested and charged in connection to Hudson’s murder.
