(KNSI) – A St. Cloud lawmaker will control the gavel when the Speaker of the House is away.
Democratic State Representative Dan Wolgamott will serve as Speaker Pro Tempore. The title means in the absence of the Speaker; he will take on the duties of managing the House Floor and ruling on legislative debate. The current Speaker is Melissa Hortman of Brooklyn Park.
“I am prepared to execute the duties of presiding officer, with fairness to my 133 colleagues, in service to the 5.7 million Minnesotans we represent,” said Wolgamott.
He was sworn in for his third term this week.
