(KNSI) – Jeff Bertram became the newest member of the Stearns County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday.

He was sworn in to officially represent District 3, which includes Cold Spring, Richmond, Rockville, St. Augusta, and other townships and municipalities. Bertram replaces Jeff Mergen who has retired after announcing he would not seek another term last summer. It was one of two competitive Stearns County commissioners seats in the 2022 election cycle. Leigh Lenzmeier won reelection in District 4.

Eight county officeholders in total took their oath. Commissioners Tarryl Clark (District 1), Joe Perske (District 2), and Steve Notch (District 5) were also present. They all ran unopposed. Sheriff Steve Soyka, Auditor-Treasurer Randy Schreifels, and County Attorney Janelle Kendall began a new term as well.
