(KNSI) — Now that most of the last big winter storm is cleaned up, Mother Nature says it’s time for another.

Thursday will be on the messy side, with a mix of light snow, light freezing rain and light rain possible this afternoon and into the evening hours. There may also be some patchy fog in lower lying areas, and drivers may have to deal with slick spots on the roads.

It will be colder on Friday, but there will be some sun before the clouds return for the weekend. As we start the new year, we should see a return to warmer than average temperatures this weekend.

Forecasters are watching a system heading this way early next week, though the track is still uncertain from model to model. Currently, the only definite factors are that the system will be large with multiple types of precipitation possible.
