(KNSI) — St. Paul police are investigating the city’s record 40th homicide of 2022 after a shooting overnight.

Just before midnight Wednesday, police responded to a call of shots fired. When they arrived, they found a man lying in an alley who was unresponsive and not breathing. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the victim’s name and cause of death.

No one has been arrested, but possible suspects were allegedly seen leaving in a black sedan.

Anyone with information is asked to contact St. Paul police at 651-266-5650.

Just over a week ago, police responded to what was then the city’s record 39th homicide of the year after a woman was shot to death on December 19th.

Last year set the record for 38 homicides.
