(KNSI) – Two fires kept central Minnesota fire departments busy over the weekend, both causing significant damage.

The first occurred at around noon Saturday inside a residential garage on the 1700 block of Boxwood Circle in St. Cloud. A car went up in flames and smoke poured out from the open garage door, alerting neighbors.

Four engine trucks responded and were able to keep the fire away from the house. No one was hurt but there is an estimated $65,000 in damage. The incident is under investigation by the St. Cloud Fire Marshal.

The second happened at a home in Lakin Township, about five miles northwest of Milaca, just after 2:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve. The blaze was responded to by the Foley Fire Department, along with mutual aid provided by departments from Pierz and Milaca. It took crews six hours to finally extinguish the flames. Damage was described as significant in a Facebook post.

Clear Lake Fire Department also assisted by staffing the Foley station to cover in case another incident came up.
