(KNSI) — Among a recent onslaught of respiratory illnesses hitting Minnesota, some retailers say they will put limits on certain medications.

CVS and Walgreens are clamping down on how many children’s pain relief medications people can buy at once. CVS says customers can buy no more than two items. Walgreens is limiting it to six, saying, “Due to increased demand and various supplier challenges, over-the-counter pediatric fever reducing products are seeing constraint across the country.”

Walmart and Target do not have purchase limits. Walmart has been able to meet the demand but may have limited options.

Doctors say a tripledemic of influenza, respiratory syncytial virus and COVID-19 is overwhelming hospitals and pediatric units.
