(KNSI) — The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office says one of their deputies lost everything – including his K9 partner and two other dogs – in a fire Monday afternoon.
According to its Twitter page, the department says crews were called to the fire in rural Nessel Township. When they arrived, the house was fully engulfed. The house belonged to their deputy, Nate Fisher and his family. They were not home when the fire started, so Deputy Fisher, his wife Heather, and their kids are all safe, but add, “It is with extreme sadness we have to report that Chisago County K9 Kyro, Deputy Fisher’s partner, did not survive the fire.”
K9 Kyro received a police escort to an animal hospital in Arden Hills, where “he will be prepared for a proper goodbye with details to follow.”
A GoFundMe has been set up to help them with interim living expenses. According to the page, Heather and Nate work tirelessly for their community, family and friends. They are always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it. From Nate’s long-time commitment to the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office to Heather’s endless work and volunteer efforts to their inspiring commitment to each other and to their children, extended family and friends, the Fishers are the kind of people that all of us who know them well aspire to be.”
