(KNSI) – A nonprofit supporting the St. Cloud Area School District recently donated $25,000 to its elementary music programs.

Local Education and Activities Foundation handed over the check last week. The funds were raised through LEAF’s Learning Renaissance banquet, which was held in October and included an evening of food, wine and conversation. It has helped raise money in support of the organizations academic fund since 2011.

LEAF has given over $163,000 to different district departments during the academic year.

Earlier this year, $42,220 was donated from LEAF’s Adopt-A-Classroom grants. The money went to 169 classrooms in every school across the district. Individuals, businesses and organizations provide the $250 grants to help classroom teachers purchase needed supplies.

Other school programs getting funding from LEAF this school year include:

$25,664 in Fall Activities Fund grants, supporting all fine arts, academic and athletic student activities programs.

$19,482 in Fall Academic Fund Grants for unique classroom instructional initiatives.

$2,523 from the LEAF Activities Participation Fund to pay for 51 sports physicals and equipment for students who would otherwise be unable to afford to participate in our after-school activities program.

$5,271 from the LEAF Homeless Student Services Fund to help homeless students and their families with school supplies, food, clothing, and emergency shelter needs.

$13,361 for the PAKRAT Program- A unique Child Literacy and Parent Involvement Program in grades P-3 in every district school

$ 2,671 for the PAKCAT Program – A unique Child Math Literacy Program in our preschool classrooms.

$14,924 for Apollo Activities and Tech Athletic programs, raised through the Eagle and Tiger Scramble Golf Events.

$1,000 to Tech NHS and Apollo Majorettes Program as a result of the ongoing LEAF Photo Contest, “The Best of 742”!

In addition, LEAF has been the conduit from donors for $11,336 in flow-through funding to support academic and athletic programs in the St. Cloud District 742 schools.
