Elementary School Teacher Charged With Criminal Sexual Misconduct for Inappropriately Touching Students

(KNSI) — A public school teacher in Benson has been arrested, accused of sexual misconduct with three students.

The criminal complaint filed in Swift County says 59-year-old Roger Ebnet can be seen on video recordings from November 30th and December 1st inappropriately touching the boys around seven or eight years old. He is also seen with the children seated between his legs over the course of the day.

Ebnet is facing three felony counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. Unconditional bail was set at $200,000. Bail with conditions is set at $25,000.

School officials released a statement saying:

“The Benson School District is aware of the pending criminal charges regarding Roger Ebnet, an employee of the School District. The School District takes the safety and security of our students very seriously and has been cooperating and will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement in its investigation. Mr. Ebnet is currently on paid administrative leave.

“This is the extent of the information the School District can provide about this matter at this time. All further data is classified as private or confidential pursuant to state and/or federal law.”

Ebnet, who taught second grade at Benson Elementary School, is due back in court on December 14th.
