(KNSI) — An investigation is underway after a gruesome discovery in Bird Island Township.
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office says “suspected human remains” were found inside of a burned-out car Sunday afternoon. Someone called 911 at about 1:00 to say they found the car in a drainage ditch. The car was “fully consumed by fire,” according to police.
The remains have been taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for identification. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Minnesota Fire Marshal is also investigating.
In May, a body was found inside a burning car in Waite Park. The victim was identified as Musa Sabriye. That case is still under investigation. A $5000 reward has been offered for information leading to the suspect.
