(KNSI) – The St. Cloud Veterans Affairs Health Care System is taking part in a national Day of Action on December 14th for the PACT Act.
The legislation was passed by Congress and then signed into law by President Joe Biden in the summer. Public Affairs Officer Barry Venable says it represents a big change in care for millions of former service members.
“The law is the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics Act of 2022. And the bottom line is it expands eligibility for VA health care for veterans who were exposed to toxic substances in the Vietnam era, Gulf War era, and post-9/11 era.”
The session runs from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. locally and is available in person or online.
Venable says veterans with questions should ask their county veteran service officer first.
“So, we don’t do claims for disability and compensation. Certainly, those feed into the health care benefits that we deliver, but that’s not our forte.”
Because of limited seating, if you want to attend in person the St. Cloud VA is asking you to register ahead of time. You can do so by calling 320-255-6340.
