(KNSI) — A GoFund Me has been set up to help a couple attacked in their home Sunday morning.
According to GoFundMe, which the Ogilvie Fire Department organized, Jeff Ponto is a member of the Ogilvie Fire Department and self-employed as the owner of Jeff’s Auto and Tire in Ogilvie. Becky is a registered nurse and surgical technician at Welia Health Hospital in Mora, where the couple was initially taken before being airlifted to other hospitals for further treatment.
The GoFundMe says it’s unknown how long it will be before either of them can work, and medical expenses and regular financial obligations are adding up quickly. “Their life has been helping others, and now we need to help them!” Donate by clicking here.
The Kanabec County Sheriff’s Office says it was called to an assault at about 4:40 at a home outside Ogilvie. A CaringBridge post from the family says the attack was a home invasion, and the couple is in intensive care.
A third person believed to be the attacker was also seriously injured. The sheriff’s department says the attack was not random, and they are not looking for any suspects.
